Increase the Value of Your Rare Coins with CAC

Increase the Value of Your Coins

If you own any numismatic coins, you know that the price you can expect to get for them is based, in large part, on the grade given to them by PCGS (Professional Coin Grading Service) or NGC (Numismatic Guaranty Corporation).
However, you also know that the overall look of the coin matters a lot, too.
This “eye appeal” is a major factor. That’s why two coins of the same grade can attract vastly different prices. It’s also why CAC (Certified Acceptance Corporation) has become so important to buyers ands sellers.
CAC holds coins to a higher standard and verifies previously-graded coins that are considered the best for the grade.
A coin receiving a CAC sticker is considered to be the high-end example of that particular grade – a very valuable distinction.
It’s also a very significant one, as the market for rare coins has been lackluster for about the last 25 years, except for truly historically-significant and ultra-rare coins.
So, before you trade or sell any of your rare coins, it’s worth having them CAC verified. American Federal is an authorized CAC dealer, one of only two in the entire state of Arizona and the lone authorized dealer in the Metro Phoenix area.

Rare coins can go for as much as 200% more with the CAC verification.

Skipping the CAC verification process could cost you dearly.
Here is just one example: A $10 Indian in PCGS or NGC MS-65 brings $2,400 – $2,600 in the dealer market.
However, if that same coin is CAC-verified, it can bring $3,500 – $4,100.
That is a potentially substantial difference. In past auctions, a 1911-D $2 ½ Indian graded PCGS MS-63 sold for $10,869 while a CAC-verified coin brought $14,100!
Even coins like the $20 St. Gaudens in MS-65 or MS-66 bring more money once they are CAC-verified.
To be clear, not every coin you own will receive the CAC verification.
CAC only verifies coins that are the best within the grade. Therefore, rare coins that barely make their grade will not be verified.
However, even if a few choice rare coins you own receive the CAC verification, that could mean thousands, even tens of thousands of dollars.
